| Upcoming EventsPlainville Balloon Festival Field Trip Led by Hazel Meredith On Friday evening, August 27, 2010, CAP will travel to the Plainville Balloon Festival to photograph the balloon glow and fireworks. We will meet at the commuter lot off Route 8, Exit 8 (near Hawley Lane Mall) at 3:30 p.m. and car pool to the festival. You may also meet us at the festival if you prefer. Mohonk Mountain House Field Trip Led by Lisa Cuchara On Sunday, August 29, 2010, the group will travel to Mohonk Mountain House for a combination of photography and a Sunday Buffet. The group will leave from the Derby Route 34 (Exit 57 off 15, Wilbur Cross parkway) commutter lot at 6:00 a.m. People who want to leave earlier or later can do so; just meet the group at 11:40 for the brunch. The cost is $64 which includes a day pass for use of the grounds and the buffet. You must make your own reservation with a credit card and then notify Lisa that you are attending as well as when and where you plan to meet the group.
Kane, the Wolf Field Trip Led by Edie Francoeur CAP is planning two field trips to photograph Kane, the Wolf. Kane lives in North Haven with his owner (who has gone through all the proper channels including the DEP to get this wolf). Kane is well trained and very friendly. The first field trip is planned for Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, and the second for Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. There is a $20 fee per person to help keep Kane well fed. Gouveia Vineyard Field Trip Led by Jo-Ann Messina On Saturday, October 16, 2010, CAP will travel to the Gouveia Vineyard in Wallingford, CT, to photograph the vineyard, have dinner, and taste some local wine. This vineyard is one of the most picturesque wineries on the Connecticut Wine Trail. The group will meet at the I-91 commuter lot at Exit 13 at 3:45 p.m. and be at the vineyard by 4:00 p.m. For those who would like to join us later in the evening directions are included in the attached flyer. Poconos Weekend Field Trip Led by Hazel and Dave Meredith The weekend of October 23-24, 2010, is the time for a fall folliage trip to the Poconos. We plan to stay at the Comfort Inn Heart of the Poconos in Bartonsville, PA where 10 rooms are being held at a rate of $98.96 + tax per room per night (only until Sept. 22, 2010 so call early). Tops in Connecticut 2010 Antoinette Gombeda and William Barnett, co-chairs All Connecticut photographers and members of Connecticut camera clubs including CAP are invited to submit up to four photographs in prints, and/or four electronic (digital) photographs. The images will be juried by three qualified judges. Work selected will comprise Tops in Connecticut 2010. The open judging is set for Sunday, November 21st at 1pm at the Milford Fine Arts Center. The ribbon and award winning images will be organized into a program and shown at the Annual CAP Dinner in April 2011. This will be the only time to view the images and hear the commentary on the exceptional work of Connecticut photographers.All entries, prints and/or digital slides, must be received by Monday, November 8, 2010.
